For many the perception of social networks is that they are primarily an outlet for gossip and also something that the younger generation is addicted to, but there is a way to use social media in order to help build both business and non-profit agencies. Social media can be an effective marketing strategy (Chung & Austria, 2010) which can help in volunteer management, financial contributions and mass communication as well as lucrative business.
According to a recent article in Success (Deneen, 2011), Facebook is up to 600 million subscribers, this puts Facebook alone at epic size that could, in terms of numbers alone, be considered a nation. With MySpace, blogs and other forms of social networking and media sites being used frequently by many, it is safe to say that the growing culture around the world is the social e-culture. In other words, there is a social revolution taking place in computing (Smith, 2009). Smith states further in his commentary that the amount of people using social media has grown significantly between 2006 and 2009. In some cases, interaction increased by 77-percent over a three year period.
In order to understand the terms being discussed, it is necessary to discuss the difference between social networking and social media. Social networking consists of sites which are used for everyday activities; people use social networking to stay in touch with their friends and family. Social networking is a utility used for connecting with others and includes sites such as Facebook profile pages, personal Twitter accounts and such. Social media, on the other hand is an outlet for broadcasting/publishing online and is a strategy (Chung & Austria, 2010, p. 581). Social media includes many of the same outlets that social networking does, yet the outlets are strategized for marketing rather than for personal contact.

Practicality
So...my day job has resumed! Which is good (my day job is as a federal employee...lol), but I have learned a valuable lesson here and it is definitely IMPORTANT to have a backup! Anyone who has been laid off knows what I'm talking about there! This morning I realized this new biz is a great opportunity to show young people (remember, I have 3 children) that there are other ways to earn money and contribute to the world rather than merely the 9-5 grind. This is a VERY interesting business and when teens see how fast it can grow, it makes them curious. Tell me what teen would balk at making a few thousand dollars a month or week! I understand that there is probably something that says you must be 18 to join up and be a distributor, but what a great opportunity to show kids how to use social networking for business and get them in that mindset so that when they are of age, they could make their own decisions of what they want to do.
I do feel this is a fresh start really...it is a great chance at a better future for us.
I hope to get to know people who stop by my blog...please make a comment just to say hi :). I will be posting some more technical things in this week about Skinny Fiber...but the practical side of it is just as attractive as the health aspect. Being an entreprenuer, I am interested in both!

Begin Afresh
Today I realized that I can control certain things in my life...not that I believe I am complete control...lol. But I realized there are ways out there to get fit, generate income AND even cure symptoms of my child's autism. I decided today that I am not a victim!!! It's over!
I am a government worker and since I have been furloughed now for almost three weeks, it made me very aware of what I am dependent upon for survival. Maybe having all my income coming in from the government is NOT a smart thing to allow. Good while it's running, but in the event that it stops...much like now...it would be awesome to have a parachute ready.
Being a single mother of two energy packed boys and a very creative daughter, I have my hands pretty well full. My middle child has autism and epilepsy and I'm tired of fighting it! As a result of all of this, I have had issues with stress of my own. Unfortunetly I am a bit of a stress eater. So it's time to shed the pounds that have been packed on by stress.
I am starting a revolution to get fit and to quit stressing! I have found the solution for the weight--Skinny Fiber. This will also help to alleviate the financial issues too. Another thing I am really looking into are oils...but that is a little ways off. I am working to see how things are different and what type of oil I will have to buy to help alleviate some of what my family is going through right now.
I believe this is a new beginning in a sense. Moving forward with the help of God's leading. If you're tired of the same stuff...let me know...leave a comment and maybe we can start chatting.
